How to choose your settings: 7× the fee share, 50× less time

Two knobs, one trade. Here is how to turn them on purpose.

The short version

Pick a 2% range instead of 15% and each dollar sits about 7× thicker at the price. But it holds price about 50× shorter.

Concentration = 1 ÷ (1 − (low ÷ high)¼) Average hold = (h ÷ σ)² · the square law

Width sets that trade. Delay sets how fast you follow price. Presets pick both for you.

202.5× vs 29.1× concentration (6.95×); hold ratio (ln 1.15 ÷ ln 1.02)² = 49.8, whatever the wiggle. Illustrative, not a promise.

1 · Range width

Narrow earns more per dollar, for less time

Your deposit earns only while price is inside your range. Narrower packs the same money thicker, so it takes a bigger fee share. It also loses the price sooner.

Narrowabout 2%–5%Most fees per dollar inside. Most snuggles.
Medium5%–15%Balanced.
Wide15%–50%Lower fees per dollar. Fewest snuggles.

Two panels, one width axis: concentration falls as the hold time climbs.

2 · Tick math

Every pool has a narrowest range

Price lives on ticks: price = 1.0001tick, so one tick is 0.01%. A range's edges must sit on multiples of the pool's tick spacing. So the narrowest range is one spacing wide.

A price ruler from 3% below to 3% above today's price. Allowed edges are drawn every tick-spacing ticks; the narrowest range spans one step.

Spacing 200: edges every 200 ticks, so the narrowest range is 2.02%.

Narrowest = 1.0001spacing − 1. This shows how tick math works on each venue. QuantumPools runs on Robinhood Chain today; there is no QuantumPools vault on Arbitrum, Base or Aerodrome, and Solana support is in development, not live and not audited.

3 · Rebalance delay

A longer delay ignores spikes, and waits outside

The delay is how long price must stay out before an automatic snuggle. Short follows every move. Long skips spikes that snap back, but earns nothing while it waits.

Instant0 hSnuggle within minutes of the keeper seeing price out. Most time earning, most snuggles. Suits tight ranges in busy pools.
Short2–8 hFilters brief spikes.
Medium12–48 hLets noise settle.
Long2–7 daysFollows only sustained moves. The vault caps the delay at 7 days.

The keeper checks about every 1–3 minutes, best effort, and only with Auto Snuggle on. No snuggle time is guaranteed.

Same 30-day path, same 10% range: each longer delay snuggles less and sits outside more.

Model: hourly steps, 3% daily wiggle, snuggle once price has been out for the full delay; the new range opens just past price. Not a real price history.

4 · The three presets

Best Fit is sized to your pool; the others bracket it

The add screen measures the pool's recent volatility and sizes every preset from it. When our optimizer, Quantum Drive, has studied the pool, its picks replace those.

Mad Max icon: a smiling face in a cowboy hat, with a mustache Mad Max

Tighter than Best Fit, on a shorter delay. Densest fees, most snuggles.

example: 6.18% · 6 h

Best Fit icon: a target Best Fit Recommended

Tuned to the pool's measured volatility: a middle band on a middle delay.

example: 12.75% · 14 h

Easygoing icon: a beach umbrella with the sun beside it Easygoing

Wider than Best Fit, on a longer delay. Stays in range longest, snuggles least.

example: 22.14% · 24 h

Examples: what the app's code computes for a 3% daily move on the live spacing-200 pool, before any optimizer picks. The half-widths are 0.9σ, 2.2σ and 3.5σ, snapped to whole spacings. If the optimizer returns one setting, Mad Max takes about half Best Fit's width and Easygoing about double, on shorter and longer delays. The app shows the exact width and delay on each preset.

5 · Worked example

A 10% range on a 3% wiggle, 14-hour delay

Days in range per exit

h = ½ × ln(1.10) = 0.0477
(0.0477 ÷ 0.03)²
= 2.52 days

Rough snuggles a month

30 ÷ (2.52 + 14/24)
= 30 ÷ 3.11
= about 9.7

Fee concentration

1 ÷ (1 − 1.10−¼)
vs full range
= 42.5×

Illustrative, not a promise.

Honest limits

A compass, not a forecast

Useful for

  • Comparing settings on one scale.
  • Seeing which way each knob pushes.

Not for

  • Predicting fees. Concentration applies only while price is inside.
  • Exact counts. A snuggled range starts at an edge, so trending prices snuggle more than the rough count.
  • Removing loss. Every snuggle locks in any gap from holding.

What to do with this

You can now read a preset like a recipe: a width for fee share, a delay for patience.

Start from Best Fit, then ask one question: would you rather earn denser or ride calmer? Nudge width first, delay second. Public deposits are open on the live venues (Robinhood Chain, Base and BNB Chain); see the audit status.
