Your range is a slow-motion order

“Price ran through my range. What price did I actually sell my DELL at?”

The short version

$1,000 at price 100 in an 80–125 range: price runs past 125, your 5 DELL sell at an average of $111.80, and you hold $1,059.02 in USDG.

average fill price = √(start price × stop price) where price starts × where it stops · key variable: your edge, the stop if price runs past running up past your top edge: √(100 × 125) = $111.80

Watch your DELL turn into USDG

As price rises through your range, the pool sells your DELL a little at a time; as it falls, it buys back. Drag to 110: you've sold 2.2040 DELL at an average of $104.88.

2 · The order

It sells like an order spread across every price

1051.1414 at $102.47
1102.2040 at $104.88
1183.7616 at $108.63
125+5 at $111.80
Each step up sells a little more, and your average climbs toward $111.80.

3 · The formula

The average is the geometric middle

Price started at 100, not your 80 edge, so the stretch it crossed is 100 to 125: √(100 × 125) = $111.80.

Number line from 100 to 125. Your average fill $111.80 (diamond) sits just under the plain midpoint $112.50 (circle) and well under one order at the top, $125.00 (square). 100125 plain midpoint $112.50 one order at the top $125.00 your average $111.80 √(100 × 125)
You sell more DELL near the bottom of the stretch, so your average leans low.

4 · Past an edge

A ceiling above, a floor below

Past 125 you sit flat at $1,059.02 while holding keeps climbing. Below 80 you hold 10.5902 DELL: your 5 plus 5.5902 bought at $89.44 on average.

5 · One token

One-token deposits are orders that wait

Deposit only USDG and it sits in a one-sided range just below price: 83.53–98.02 at the app's starting width (17.35%). Fall through it all and you buy 11.0515 DELL at $90.49 on average. It earns nothing until price enters it.

Price never arrives: a one-sided range from 83.53 to 98.02 sits just below the price at 100, still holding 1,000 USDG. It earns nothing yet. 1,000 USDG 83.5398.02 price 100 DELL price, illustrative

6 · The snuggle

A snuggle sets your next fill price

Run to 130 and a snuggle places your 1,059.02 USDG at 81.55–127.43, just below price.

Snuggle at a spike top of 160 and you rebuy near $125.46, unless your delay, or the 30-minute average check, outlasts the spike.

Honest limits

A lens for edges, not a forecast

Useful for

  • Knowing your average price once price crosses.
  • Choosing edges like order prices.
  • Seeing why a spike-top snuggle rebuys high.

Not for

  • Forecasting: price may never cross.
  • Fees and QuantumPools' 15% are left out.
  • Exact edges: real ones snap to 200-tick rungs.

What to do with this

You can read any range as an order: edges in, average price out.

Before you set edges, ask: would I be happy selling at √(price × top edge)? That's your average if price runs.
